NBTE accreditation team visits Gombe over FCH Dadinkowa
The National Board For Technical Education NBTE were in the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa, Gombe State for official visit from Thursday 31st March to 4th April, 2022.
The visit was over accreditation of courses and resources inspection for intending courses to be mounted in the college.

While addressing the team, Provost Dr. Babawuro Mahmood Ali who was represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Emon Patai Matai informed the team that the Provost was unavoidably absent on a two-week official trip to London for Agricultural programmes.
According to him, the College needs partnership, collaboration and research development to enhance agricultural production and to boast food security in the country.
He commended the Executive Secretary Prof. Idiris Mohammed Bugaje, and his team for their unalloyed support since the inception of the College.

He added, “Words can not be enough to express our gratitude for your efforts and commitments towards quality confirmation.”
The Provost urged the Resource Team to advise the College appropriately on any grey areas to enhance improvement and to do the needful.
He however, stated that College has indicated her readiness to impart academic knowledge to the host Community and the country at large. He said.
While speaking during the visit, the Team Leader, Mallam Hussani Haruna Muhammad who is also the North-East Zonal Director, the representative of the Executive Secretary NBTE, Prof. Idris Mohammed Baguje charged the Resource Team to discharge their duties without any bias or conflict of interests.
He said, “It is paramount to note that we are invited to work in synergy between the team and the staff of the college.
He urged the team to be vigilant and dedicated towards discharging their duties effectively. While appealing to the Head of Departments to ensure that the Resource Inspection was successful, all necessary documents should be provided to the team.
He noted that he would not tolerate or accept any illegal programmes, saying that physical infrastructure, facilities and staff are stipulated according to the requirement of NBTE standard.
According to him, NBTE will take legal actions against any Institution operating illegally or programmes whose accreditation status has expired.
The Team Leader, further disclosed that the Executive Secretary of NBTE has mandated all Institutions across the country to establish Skills Acquisition Centre by 2023.
“It is also very important to note that the paradigm shift is very critical to our technological and economic development of the country,” he added.
Speaking further, Matai reiterated that the critical issues has been the College’s concern in meeting the standard required by NBTE, adding that the FCH Dandinkowa does not operate any illegal programmes.
He also stated that the College has also ventured into skill acquisition for the training of Youths programmes in the geo-political zones such as North East, North Central, South West and South East and also to provide certificate training to enhance their productivity.
He disclosed further, that the College has already developed Skill Acquisition Centre such as tailoring, hair dressing, knitting, cosmetics, confectionaries to mention but a few.
Subsequently, the Resource Team inspected Six new programmes , accredited two new programmes and accredited Eight programmes respectively.
These new courses accredited are; ND Science Laboratory Technology, HND Cooperative Economics and Management, while other courses accredited are ND Animal Health and HND Animal Health Technology, ND Horticultural Technology and HND horticultural Technology, ND Agricultural Technology , ND Fisheries Technology, HND Fisheries Technology, HND Animal Production Technology, HND Crop Protection Technology and HND Pest Management Technology respectively.
While speaking during the briefing, the NBTE Boss stated that their expectations was to ensure that all the infrastructures such as facilities and equipment earmarked for accreditation met the standard of the NBTE.
According to him,three major instruments were used for evaluation they are; the physical infrastructure which contains all the workshops, studios, libraries, classrooms and lecture halls.
Others include, Staffing, Principal Lecturers, Chief Lecturers and Senior Lecturers available for the programmes.
While on academic matters, the team would examine the curriculum adopted to attest if it added any local content or without initiation.
