Gombe hotelier threatens to sue NSCDC commandant
A Gombe –based businesswoman, Loveth Samuel has threatened to sue the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, Commandant Waziri Goni for libel.
Recall that the State Commandant of NSCDC Gombe State boss paraded the businesswoman along with over six alleged prostitutes the arrested within Gombe metropolis.
Samuel said the publication resulted into various calls and lowering her reputation in the eyes of her families, friends, associates and business community, the woman alleged that the State Commandant Waziri Baba Goni also dragged her to court.
Our correspondent gathered that the Woman was taken to Chief Magistrate Court 6 in Gombe by the NSCDC for causing public nuisance punishable under the law.
Narrating her ordeal in Gombe, the businesswoman who is into hospitality business said the only crime she committed was to rent the place to one Abdul Adamu who allegedly used the facility for Gadan Wanzam also known as “Local dancing entertainment place” querying if renting a facility is now a crime in Nigeria?
According to her, the place she rented to Adamu automatically belonged to him unless he defaulted in the payment of rent to her, adding that whatever the Adamu does with the rented place belonged to him, and he should be answerable to it and not the landlady.
She said, “I was disgraced for a crime i knew nothing about, charged to court and was granted bail with the sum of N50, 000 and sureties.
“I have been operating my legitimate businesses legally and lawfully before the new State Commandant came with his ulterior motive to tarnish my image, reputation and destroy my businesses because of envy and avarice that characterised his stay in the state as the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.”
The businesswoman revealed that her lawyers are preparing to sue the commandant for two billion naira for libel, while her court case with the NSCDC is still in progress with Chief Magistrate Court 6, Gombe, which our correspondent gathered is codenamed “State v. Mrs Loveth Samuel”.
Investigation conducted by our correspondent revealed that the woman had attempted to stop the Gadan Wanzam dancers, including paying the money for the operators of the entertainment Gadan Wanza to park out of the vicinity but all was in vain.
Responding NSCDC boss Goni debunked insinuation that the command falsely paraded the owner of the structure harbouring teenage prostitutues.
According to Goni, “Actually she said two things, first of all, she said she bought the land from that guy to stop the vices but later they didn’t and I think she transfered the money but later when she sees that the business was going on, she rented out so that they should continue, is it not an offence?
“But you see you buy a place when they are doing that we take them to court, so she didn’t take them to court as long as they are doing that, let me rent out so that they will continue with other groups but she said she is collecting N20,000, every month, isn’t it an offence? Is not Abdul, we arrested the two guys and later, they themselves said that the place was rented by a lady to them, this is the reasons why she was invited, the two guys came to bail the ladies out, you know they are couriers, they are not landlords, the landlord is the lady. Some ran away but they are about six of them doing this business in Gombe, we will still deal with them seriously, the lady and the other two are in court now.”

This is a job well done Sir, I must recommend you for that.
