Our correspondent recalls that Nyuwar was attacked on the 13th – 18th April 2021, 26th- 27th July 2021 by those government described as unknown gun men. However, the Fourth attack happened this year on the 8th February 2022 before the June incidence.
Houses, food items were among property worth thousands of Naira destroyed, with scores of dwellers sustaining injuries.
According to an eye witness Galiyos Zulum, some Lunguda farmers were sent away from their farm land for yet to be confirmed reasons.
Zulum revealed that tension grew stronger, “as the Waja began to mobilise and move into the Lunguda territory some houses at Pandi were burnt down,” he said.
He noted that normalcy was restored following the intervention of Security agencies.
Zulum added, “Security agents tried to repel them but because of their large number as they were coming from different directions they couldn’t contain them.
“They wanted to penetrate into Lunguda territory but the Lunguda Youths stood their ground and put a defense until reinforcement came from the security forces before the situation was calmed.”
Zulum also appealed to government to set committee of inquiry into ascertaining the cause of the continued attacks.
“The Community is calling on the Government to have a listening ear to the cry of the Lunguda in Nyuwar. The Government has been silent in all the attacks,” Zulum said.
