CITAD trains health workers on Coronavirus vaccine data
Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), has trained data managers of primary healthcare agencies from some selected states of Northern Nigeria on Coronavirus vaccine.
Speaking on Tuesday during the first batch of the training exercise in Gombe, Hamza Ibrahim, Coordinator, Public education on COVID-19 project CITAD, said the training was expected to build the capacities of the data managers.

He disclosed that the training was in partnership with MacArthur foundation to sensitise each of the 19 states on the importance of data.
According to him, “The training will focus on data quality, integrity, and will solve the issue of data discrepancy. We understand there are alot of issues surrounding data at many levels. We hope to build their capacities around data to know how it is managed, processed so that they can know credible data.”
Ibrahim added that the participants for the first batch cut across nine states which include; Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, Yobe, Jigawa,Kaduna, Kano and Katsina states.
“From nine states we have 18 participants, we hope they will acquire the skills and the know-how. It will benefit the public because a credible data can be easily accessed, and will help in decisions, policies of government,” Ibrahim added.
Also speaking, Mustapha Alinkilo, Programme Manager Zamfara State Emergency Rountine Immunisation Centre said the training would solve the issue caused by discrepancies in data collection.
Alinkilo, who was a facilitator at the training said, “We are expected to find lasting solution to the problem. We intend to use the opportunity to build their capacity on the electronic management of immunisation data. Most of the discrepancy has been from northern region, because of higher volume and uptake.”
On her part, Fatimatu Abdullahi, a participant from Adamawa state said the training would increase her knowledge base, especially in the discharge of her response.
