Gombe Govt sympathises with Nafada Community, Emirate over windstorm
The Gombe State Government has commiserated with the people of Nafada Local Government over the recent destruction of houses and property caused by rain and wind storm.
The Government delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, was at the Emir’s Palace and affected places where they condoled the people and inspected the extent of damages.
The Deputy Governor enjoined them to accept the natural calamity as one of those things in life that must happen to humans.

He said, “God made humans and gave us mandate to make use of other creations for our own good. We all know that, planting of trees helps mitigate the effect of climate change, desert encroachment, and other environmental degradations. Our Governor in his wisdom created the Gombe Goes Green Project with the intention of planting four million trees in four years to serve as wind breakers and control environmental degradation. I urge you to support this programme so as to stop negative environmental factors militating against our existence.
” Let me also appeal to you, to consult with the Local Government Authorities whenever you are about to start a building project. Nobody will snatch your plot of land but, it’s only for you to have technical advice on how to build structures that can last.”
Jatau directed the management of State Emergency Management Agency to immediately assess the extent of damages and report their findings for immediate response towards assisting the victims.
He charged them to carry out a thorough assessment of all affected cases in all the nooks and crannies of the Local Government.
The Deputy Governor and members of the delegation were taken round the affected places by the Chairman of the Local Government, Alh. Musa Abubakar and members of his council.
