Akko LG boss solicits support for USAID activity
The Secretary of Akko Local Government Area Alhaji Usman Ahmed Kumo has called on staff to cooperate with state to state activity staff who are in the area on an assessment visit.

Kumo made this plea while addressing the staff in the council chamber appreciated activities of state to state and urged the staff to be honest and truthful in responding to questions asked by the state to state.
He hoped for the success of the activity in Akko local government which he said is for the good of the common man.
Earlier the State to State Citizens Engagement and Capacity Building Specialist Mr Philip Ikita said they were in the area for a baseline assessment to know the kind of technical and capacity support to be provided.
Ikita said, “Akko local government area is one the LGAs selected by state to state to stepdown technical and capacity support towards improving budgeting in the areas of Water Sanitation and Hygiene,Primary Health, Basic Education.”
He said assessment is in sixth domain to include local government development plan,Budgeting, service delivery, procurement, governance and state local government interface.
“We are assessing all these areas to help us understand the nature of the gaps and intervention we can provide in order to bring improvements in these domains,” Ikita added.
The specialist said the state to state activity has achieved a lot of gains in the state and wants to replica it to seven local government areas of Gombe state.
“We are going to stepdown the capacity support provided to Ministries Departments and Agencies MDAs at the state level to Local Government staff so that the gains we are witnessing as a result of the support would be experienced at the local government level,” he said.
He said there is good understanding and support from the state government and it is also aware of the state to State move to local government areas.
Ikita added, “We expect to see commitment and support of LGA staff for better management and improvement.”
The state to state activity supported by USAID is improve accountability,transparency and effectiveness in governance.
