Gombe CP Inspects INEC State Office
Following recent attacks on INEC facilities in some part of Nigeria, Commissioner of Police Oqua Etim, has paid an unscheduled visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission Gombe State, to assess police deployment to the Commission.

Our Correspondent reports that since IGP Usman Baba’s order no recent deployment aside about 20 joint security officers attached following the distribution of 2,988 BVAS machines in the state.
According to a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, CP Etim during the visit said, “it’s the responsibility of the Police as the lead agency in election security to provide the Commission with adequate security across its facilities, and the environs including staff.”
While assuring members of the public of tight security during the 2023 electioneering process, he expressed commitment to providing a level playing ground for peaceful conduct.
He appreciated the support of the Commission to the command, “in providing timely information,” Gombe State Police Commissioner added.
