Gombe First Lady Receives Women Defectors In Nafada

The wife of Gombe State Governor, Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has vowed to continue touching the life of women and vulnerable in the state in order to improve their livelihood.
She made the commitment during the presentation of empowerment grants, food items and parcels of wrappers to female beneficiaries at Nafada secretariat.
Our Correspondent reports that on the fourth day about 40 million naira was given to over 2000 women in Nafada LGA.
With another set of 3,930 women to get 1,310 bags of rice ,1,310 bags of maize and 1,310 wrappers.
Yahaya said, “Studies have shown that, women and children are the worst hit in times of insurgency and pandemic , with the aftermath of hunger and poverty. More worrisome is that, women mostly bear the borden of the family . These is the more reason why my empowerment initiatives focus on women so that they become economically self reliant.”
While the wife of Senator Sa’idu Umar Alkali, Hajiya Zainab Alkali joined forces with the first lady and the APC women leaders in canvassing for women votes from top to bottom , which is the only thing they can do for continuity and sustainability of dividends of democracy.
The caretaker chairman of Nafada Local Government, Salisu Shuaibu Dendele, thanked the governor’s wife for her show of love and concern about the well-being of the people of Nafada, particularly women and children. As he prayed for almighty to reward her and governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya abundantly, Salisu Dendele assured them of the full support of the people of Nafada LG in its entirety.
At the palace of emir of Nafada where the first lady paid a courtesy visit to seek for the royal father’s blessings, Alhaji Muhammadu Dadum Hamza stated categorically that, for the last 66years of the existence of Nafada emirate, no governor’s wife or administration has ever brought any grant or intervention of sort to uplift the living standard of his people.
He therefore appreciated the kind gesture of the First Lady and her husband for putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged women, praying for God’s continued protection and guidance for them to do more good for humanity.
No fewer than 300 female defectors from Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress were received and benefitted from the empowerment.
