Boi Ayaa Community in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has appealed to the Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to elevate the status of their traditional stool from village head to chiefdom.

Their position was made known at the 2023 annual cultural festival tagged; Vii Maa Yaa that showcases their cultural value and heritage.

National President, Philemon Kichime

Speaking at the festival, the National President of the Boi Progressive Association (BPA), Philemon Kichime, explained that the community had existed for 140 years with village head as traditional leader opining that it deserves to be elevated to the status of chiefdom now.

He said that the elevation would help in preserving their culture and facilitate its growth and development.

Kichime further appealed for the construction of modern market setting in Boi to complement the current one as one of the largest markets in southern Bauchi with high percentage of revenue generation.

On the issues of security, he called on government to establish a permanent military outpost or Mopol barracks to stem the tide of insecurity confronting the community and its surroundings.

While commending Governor Bala, for constructing the over 11 kilometers road from Boi to Tapshin and appointing worthy sons of Boi in the State Government, assured that “the community will continue to support government’s programs and policies.”

Our Correspondent reports that this year’s Vii Maa Yaa, is focused on sustaining the unity of the land and fund raising of 50 million Naira for the procurement of equipment for their entrepreneurship centre.
