Gombe Police kill suspected kidnapper, two others escape with gun wounds

Following an intelligence report received by the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe State Police command on Monday, the police said it killed a suspected kidnapper, while two others escaped with gun wounds.
According to the Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, its took the collaboration between the command and local vigilantes/hunters to yield the positive results.

He noted that the collaboration and eventual disruption of the criminal gang of three suspected kidnappers who were sighted along the Lawanti axis of Akko Local Government Area of the state, was based on credible intelligence.
The Command PRO disclosed that the rescue team recovered; AK-47 rifle, a magazine with five live bullets, and a Honda Bajaj Motorcycle
Abubakar said, “On receipt of the information, the officer in charge of the unit in collaboration with the Hunters and Vigilante groups mobilised to the scene and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.
“Due to the firepower of the Police, one of the suspects was neutralised while others took to their heels with bullet injuries; an AK-47 rifle, a magazine with five live bullets, and a Honda Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered as exhibits.”
While urging for collaboration with the general public, the command image maker, disclosed that the commissioner was impressed with the effort of the partnership
“The Commissioner of Police CP Oqua Etim commends the officers for a good job and directs that the case be investigated discreetly by the unit, to ensure the fleeing suspects are arrested.
“The CP equally appreciates and enjoins the peace loving citizens in the State to continue to give credible information to the command which will lead to the arrest and apprehension of these criminal elements,” he added.
