Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State Joshua Lidani, of the All Progressives Congress was on Sunday defeated by a former Director of Fidelity Bank Yaro Anthony-Siyako.
Recall that Lidani won the incumbent senator representing Gombe South Bulus Amos, to clinch the ticket, observers claimed his defeat is not far from the legal tussle instituted by Bilyaminu Babadidi, who is making claims to the ticket.
Announcing the results the Returning Officer Professor Saleh Abdu said, “Yaro Anthony-Siyako of the PDP having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared and is returned elected.”
According to him, Lidani polled 36,879, while Anthony-Siyako scored 97,956 and the NNPP polled 1551
Meanwhile, Simon Karu’s ambition to secure his seat as the House of Representatives member representing Kaltungo/Shongom was stopped by PDP’s Obed Shehu.
Disclosing this Professor Muhammad Saidu, who served as returning officer said, “PDP polled 35,366, to defeat APC 22,983.”
