ABIA IN DIRE NEED OF LEADERSHIP AND NOT SPECTATORSHIP: A CASE FOR DR ALEX CHIOMA OTTI
By Agodi Kanu
Leadership is a personal and persuasive action of leading a group of people or an organisation and in this instance, a State. It involves integrity, taking measured risks, motivate others to achieve desired objectives, lead by example and taking responsibility for successes and failures. This definition is certainly a far cry from expectations of Abia and Abians in the last 24 years of our stunted democratic experience. The opposite of Leadership is Spectatorship.
Spectatorship is very easy and simple. It is a state of watching or looking with no opinion or commitment while activities go right or wrong. A spectator neither control nor take responsibility. He shares no blame but apportion blames. He’s weak, manipulated and doesn’t feel the pains and heartbeat of fellow spectators. Most spectators are imposed and never planned to lead. Those who force them on the people are often the rulers rather than leaders. Confusion, non performance, blame games and bad governance dominate their reigns often with terror. Political spectators are incurably selfish, unprogressive and
greedy in power.
There’s this comedic saying that when you elevate a mad man to a bus conductor, he takes glory in aimlessly pointing and waving to the empty sky without looking downwards to get passengers. Abia state without getting into details from inception had governors after Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as spectators. They watch news but don’t make news for the right reasons. They have something in common as they are often imposed and manipulated into power by the rulers. They are stooge with tenacity of not only sustaining the annihilative tendencies of their predecessor but even worsen their governance records.
The 2023 governorship election is almost here. The vampires are gathering with threats and intimidation as tools of coercion. The dangling of blanket promotion across board and alleged hurried payment of salaries is rife and suspect. The desperation to capture government house at all cost having colossally fumbled at National Assembly election is evident….that’s the last hope dangling and fizzling away like hurricane. Another Spectator in the person of Mr Okey Ahiwe is about to be installed. A party that lacked every trappings of internal Democracy is gearing for war. A party currently embroiled in litigations with no pathway is dreaming of holding us down. More worrisome is the phrase that he will continue with the good works of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu in terms of deficit infrastructure, non payment of salaries and pensions, touting in governance, governance from rented Government House, poor financial management, loss of accreditations, poor healthcare, poverty allocation, planlessness and cluelessness. Am further perturbed as both the outgoing and new spectator bear same first name….. Okey and it means nothing will change.
ABIA WEEP NO MORE FOR HELP IS HERE
When Joshua was about to end his journey in Israel, he gathered the elders and children of Israel and challenged them to “choose this day whom they will serve” He publicly declared to them that him and his household will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15) In same stead, choose to vote Dr Alex Chioma Otti. Me and my NAGLI-APM structure of over 96,000 members will vote for Dr Alex Chioma Otti. My dependents that work in Abia Civil service without salaries which added pressures on me and my likes will vote Dr Otti of Labour party. Families, friends, colleagues and dependents of civil servants that were despatched to early graves will vote for Mama, Papa, Pikin. Young and elderly couples that non payment of salaries either forced their women into prostitution or abruptly separated their sweet marriages will find hope again in labour party. Youths that had their education truncated because civil servant parents could not continue or send them to school but entered the streets will certainly consider Dr Alex Otti as next governor. Abians desirous of seeing return of responsible night life and movements in Abia since most businesses are tidied up at night can be rest assured that Dr Alex as governor is the panacea. The influx of credible businessmen that will lubricate our economy and create jobs will be possible by voting in kLabour Party. Dr Otti will restore the dignity of Umuahia as a State Capital compared to other neighbouring states and recreate Aba to be the hub of commerce in southeast.
He’s already rich and comfortable and will not be kleptocratic. He is bringing successful business acumen into governance for rapid transformations. He is tested and trusted.
Ndi Abia defy every rambling, ranting, threats, intimidations, witchcraft and nonsensical innuendoes and come out en mass to vote for change of expired political guards, retirement of papacracy, mamacracy, dedecracy and enthrone ohacracy. Vote for a new Abia State that will change our sad narratives. Dr A.C Otti is an indisputable Leader and not accidental or judicial Spectator like some other frontline contenders.
Vote Dr Alex Chioma Otti for a New Abia
Vote Labour Party for Abia that works for All.
Vote Humans (Mama Papa Pikin) and not images created by human.
