#GuberPoll: Our measures’ll be stricter – 301 Artillery Regiment Gombe

The 301 Artillery Regiment on Friday said its security measures would be stricter as Gombe residents look forward to the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly poll in some hours.
According to a press statement issued by M Attah, the Public Relations Officer of the Regiment, said voters were expected to go nearer to the locations of their polling units to avoid been stopped on election day.
Attah, disclosed that the Army remained committed to the smooth conduct of the the electioneering process, while assuring of friendly atmosphere.
The statement partly read, “Following the recent conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, the 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Nigerian Army Gombe State, wishes to reiterate its commitment to providing a peaceful and conducive environment for the good people of Gombe State as they prepare to exercise their franchise in the Forthcoming Gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections.
“To this end the 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) will be adopting stricter measures to enforce the restriction of movement on the day of elections Accordingly, the electorates are please advised to make efforts to move closer to their polling units a day before the elections. The only people that will be allowed movement are INEC officials and those on essential duties.”
While urging eligible voters to participate in the process, the 301 Artillery Regiment avowed of its neutrality, adding that troublemakers would be dealt with great trouble.
“All eligible citizens are advised to come out and exercise their franchise and vote at the designated INEC polling units in the state as the Nigerian Army in conjunction with other security agencies will continue to provide security during the period of election. The 301 Artillery Regiment (General Support) wishes to re-emphasize that the Nigerian Army remains apolitical and neutral, as it will continue to discharge its responsibilities in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We further enjoin all citizens to report any real or perceived threats to appropriate security outfits or suspicious activity to the nearest military sub unit or police station for prompt action. Please be aware that anyone or group of person that brings violence during this election will be met with greater violence,” Attah added.
