No fewer than 278 members-elect under the aegis of new vision, new Nigeria on Monday said the emergence of Mukhtar Betara, as speaker for the 10th Assembly would support the President-elect Bola Tinubu, deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Betara represents Biu, Bayo, Kwaya Kusara and Shani Federal Constituency in House of Representatives.
Our correspondent reports that the members include Representatives-elect from; Labour Party, All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party.
Speaking, Dabo Ismail, Convener and member-elect of Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, said they were in North-East, Gombe State having transversed other geopolitical zones, consulting stakeholders on Betara’s emergence.
Ismail said his group had considered other aspirants for the office of Speaker, adding that Betara’s aspiration exudes, competence, hard work, performance barring political interest.
According to him, politics is about consultation and not intimidation, adding that Betara’s leadership would work closely with the new administration towards delivering dividends of democracy to citizens.
He said, “We are going to work closely with the new government most especially the President-elect to support him in actualising his dream to reform Nigeria and that is what we are after.”
While decrying the plight of Nigerians, Ismail said Betara would embark on the needed oversight, ensure timely budget consideration towards ensuring National development.
“Nigeria is in a critical stage that’s needs people that matters to pilot the affairs of this country and with the speaker, we hope having known his past record he is capable to make the national assembly work, pass budget on time, embark on oversight function and to also make laws that will bring sanity to the country.
“We are tired, Nigerians are tired, Nigerians are expecting serious results from us that was why they came out massively to vote and you can see the voting pattern of the recently conducted election.we are supporting one candidate (Betara) and by the grace of God he will emerge as speaker of the Federal House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly,” Ismail added.
Reacting to question on how Betara’s aspiration would triumph despite coming from the same state as the Vice President-elect, he said
“The present government now; it’s there the Vice President and Speaker are from the same state. Presently now Gbajabiamila, and Yemi Osinbajo are from the same state. So there is nothing wrong having Speaker and Vice President from the same zone.
“Nigerians are after results, are after good representation and not issue of zoning or where you come from. Our economy is destroyed you can check the level of inflation in this country neighbouring countries are performing better than us. Nigerians should be talking about good representation not issue of region or where you come from, we should face our problems head-on and resolve our problems.”
