The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has commiserated with the Government and people of Borno State over February Monday-market inferno in Maiduguri Metropolis which resulted in loss of property worth millions of naira.

The Governor also sympathised with them over the death of Immediate past Secretary to the State Government,  Usman Jidda Shuwa, who died recently.

Yahaya was represented by a high-powered delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau,  in company of the Immediate Past Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.

Condoling the Governor in the Government House, the Deputy Governor said, the Monday-Market inferno as incurred a great loss to the affected people and the entire state.

He lamented the collosal loss and advised the people to be very cautious in managing electrical issues so as to forestall future occurrence.

On the death of the former Borno SSG, the Deputy Governor urged them to accept the death as one of the necessary events that shall happen to all mortals.

He explained “On behalf of the Governor, Government and residents of Gombe State , we condole with you over the transition of a very excellent public servant, the former Secretary to the Borno State Government.

“He was a very diligent person who Committed so much to ensure quality service to God and humanity. His demise is indeed a great loss,not only to the family and Borno state but, to the entire nation and humanity.

” Our sojourn on earth is like a market place. When we are done with our shopping lists we must return home. The deceased is done with his stipulated roles and timing on earth and has to return to his creator. The holy book says ” from him we came and to him we shall return.

“We have come to also sympathise with the Government and victims of fire incident that occured sometimes in February, during the period of elections. We were unable to come immediately because it was the period of heightened political activities and elections. We have come with a token of Fifty million naira only as our widow’s mite” ( quoting from the bible).

The Deputy Governor then presented a cheque of 50 million naira on behalf of Gombe state Government as contribution to the victims of the Monday-Market fire disaster to Governor Zulum for onward submission to the victims.

Responding, the Governor of Borno State Professor Zulum, appreciated the concern exhibited by the Governor of Gombe State, Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He said, ” The degree of fraternity between Borno and Gombe State cannot be overemphasised. We appreciate the concern shown to us by the government and people of Gombe State by coming to commiserate with us on the demise of our immediate past SSG, Alh. Usman Jidda Shuwa, and the fire inferno that gulped the Monday market sometimes back.

“We have collected the sum of 50 million naira for onward submission to victims of the disaster to cushion the effect of fire disaster. The amount will be judiciously utilised.”

At the residence of the deceased, the immediate past Secretary to Gombe State Government, Njodi, enjoined the family to accept the death as the destiny of the deceased in line with God’s irreversible verdict over humanity.

He prayed Allah in his infinite Mercy grants the deceased soul Aljanna Firdaus.

The members of the delegation include the Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management, Alh. Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi and Director, Security and Political Matters, Government House Gombe, Alh. Bala Sarki among others.
