Gombe House of Assembly passes N47b for 11 LGAs
Gombe state House of Assembly has passed into law the 2023 budget estimate of N47, 286, 747, 422.00 billion for the eleven local government councils of the state.
The passage of the bill was sequel to the consideration and adoption of the report of the house committee on appropriation which was presented during plenary session by committee’s Deputy Chairman Shuaibu Haruna.
“Forty seven billion, two hundred and eighty six million, and seven hundred and forty seven thousand, four hundred and twenty two Naira (47, 286, 747, 422.00), has been passed,” Haruna said.
The appropriation committee which had an engagement with all the local government councils on their proposed 2023 budget commended Akko, Billiri and Gombe local government councils for performing excellently in terms of Internally Generated Revenue in the 2022 fiscal year.
Haruna urged the remaining local government councils to put more effort so as to improve their independent revenue to the government in order to reduce over dependence on federal allocation.
As part of its recommendations, the committee which queried the late transmission of the 2023 local government budget, urged that budget should be transmitted to the house on time, while calling for the training of relevant staff of the local government on the New National Chart of Accounts Budgeting Model.
A breakdown of the budget shows that Akko LGA has the highest budget of N5b.
