SYNW congratulates Hadiza Isma el-Rufai on her 63rd birthday
The Society of Young Nigerian Writers has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the former first lady of Kaduna State, Hadiza Isma el-Rufai, on the occasion of her 63rd birthday.
This significant milestone the Society said is a testament to her remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication to the literary world and philanthropy.
In a statement signed by SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin, said Hadiza Isma el-Rufai, a distinguished novelist and wife of the former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has left an ineradicable mark on Nigeria’s literary landscape, adding that her contributions to the literary community have inspired and empowered countless individuals, particularly the girl child and young women, to embrace creativity and enhance their literacy skills.
In 2017, Hadiza Isma el-Rufai founded the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation (YELF), a nonprofit literary organisation committed to nurturing creativity in children between the ages of eight and 19, with a specific focus on empowering girls. YELF has provided valuable resources, such as books and teachers, to enhance the literacy of these young minds, enabling them to explore their potential and broaden their horizons.
As the First Lady of Kaduna State, Hadiza Isma el-Rufai has also utilised her position for philanthropic endeavors, extending her support to the less privileged. She has generously donated drugs to sickle cell patients in Kaduna, demonstrating her deep compassion and commitment to improving the lives of those in need.
The SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin along with the entire membership of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers, commended Hadiza Isma el-Rufai for her significant contributions to literature and philanthropy.
