Army Day 2023: Army holds public speaking engagement with students in Taraba

The Nigerian Army on Tuesday organised a public speaking engagement with students of Government Technical Training School Jalingo as part of activities to mark the week-long Nigerian Army day celebration 2023.

Brigadier General Frank Etim, the commander 6 brigade, Nigerian Army Jalingo noted during the event that the exercise was in line with the chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja’s vision to reposition the Nigerian Army as a professional instrument capable of uniting Nigeria for better development.
Etim said the event was a public enlightenment campaign to showcase the image of the Nigerian Army as an instrument of nation unity and national integration. He encouraged the Nigerian Army to sustain awareness campaign among the civilian population in order to make joining the Nigerian Army attractive to civilians
“While I encourage the Nigerian Army to sustain this awareness campaign among the civilian population to make the Nigerian Army more attractive to civilians, I commend the students for demonstrating kind interest in what is happening in the country and in the military in particular.
“Many of them are already nursing the ambition to join the military in the nearest futures. This public engagement became necessary because, every solder was once a civilian, and there is need to fuster the relationship and encourage more civilians to support and join the Nigerian Army,” Etim explained.
Earlier, Lieutenant colonel Abdulahi Mohammad the lead facilitator at the occasion noted that the public engagement was to also give soldiers, staff and students of the school an opportunity to participate in the activities of the 2023 Nigeria Army day celebration, as the Public Speaking Engagement visit was going on in all the 36 states Command Secondary Schools and the FCT.
Abdulahi also explained that the exercise was to sensitise the students on the need to be patriotic citizens of Nigeria, imbibing the principles of honesty and integrity, the need to avoid criminal company and criminality, advocacy against cultism, drugs and substance abuse, the potentials, Unifying Power, comradery, and all inclusiveness of the Nigerian Army.
