Gombe State National Youth Service Corps says its has planned to welcome no fewer than 1,522 batch B stream I Prospective Corps Members ahead of the three-week mandatory orientation course.

 

According to a press statement signed by Head, Press and Public Relations Unit Dakama Iliya, on behalf of the State Coordinator Dawut Jidda, the course would commence on Wednesday 12th July 2023 and end on Tuesday 1st August 2023.

 

She disclosed that its inline with NYSC Management’s resolve for continued mobilisation and subsequent deployment of Nigerian graduates to the 36 States of the Federation, and FCT, for the one year National service.

 

 

The statement partly read, “Registration: Wednesday 12th July to Midnight of Thursday 13th July, 2023

“Swearing-in Ceremony: Friday 14th July ,2023 and Closing Ceremony: Tuesday 1st August, 2023.

“About 1522 Prospective Corps members are expected to report at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State for the three-week Orientation Course.”

 

The statement noted that in order to ensure that Prospective Corps members are given warm reception on arrival, members of the reception Committee made up of senior officers of the Scheme have been assigned to designated motor parks to welcome Prospective Corps members and direct them to the venue of the Orientation Course.

 

“Please note, every service offered on camp is free. You are advised not to pay for kit items, posting, relocation, registration and the likes . Remember, the giver and taker of any form of gratification will be sanctioned in accordance to the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-laws,” the statement added.

 

The statement also frowned at any attempt to deface the uniforms, adding that “NYSC Management has also observed the growing trend of defacing the NYSC Uniform. Corps members are advised to not use rubber band at the helm of their khaki trousers, cut it to three quarter or slim fit it . Anyone caught will be sanctioned in accordance to the provisions of the NYSC Bye-laws. The uniform must be worn correctly. There are banners on correct use of the NYSC uniform placed at strategic locations in the Camp to guide you.”

While wishing the PCMs journey mercies to Gombe State, the statement assured prospective participants of management’s commitment to equip them mentally and physically for nation building.

The statement added, “Prospective Corps members are expected to participate in all camp activities, and on no account should corps members leave the camp without exit permit from either the Camp Director or the State Coordinator as the case may be. It is pertinent for Prospective Corps members to conduct themselves properly and be time conscious throughout the duration of the exercise.

“Prospective Corps members are advised to come along with Originals of their credentials and eight copies of their recent passport for the registration exercise.”
