Eight LGAs receive bags of fertiliser recently launched by Gov Yahaya
…..three others await Committee’s arrival

No fewer than eight Local Government Areas in Gombe State, have so far received bags of fertiliser recently launched by the Governor Muhammadu Yahaya,
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the sales of fertiliser is pegged at ₦19,000 per bag in order to boost food production and ensure food security in the state, with about 25 per cent discount from market price of N26,000
Out of that 160 trucks of fertiliser was procured at rate of N2.8 billion for distribution to all the eleven Local Government Areas, eight have received with ten trucks of the fertilisers each while three LGAs are yet to receive the bags of fertiliser.
A Committee Member who begged for anonymity as a civil servant said the three remaining LGAs will receive eleven trucks of fertiliser they include Dukku, Akko, Yamaltu/ Deba and Gombe LGAs.
The reasons the member said, that they have many wards than other Local Government Areas in the state.
He said further that the challenge the Committee faced was due to shortage of labourers and transportation to convey the products from the central store in Gombe to their respective areas.
He appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry to complement the effort of Local Government Areas by providing more trucks to facilitate efficient and smooth transportation of these products to their various localities .
According to him, each truck has 600 bags of fertiliser while the committee is working assiduously to ensure that the fertiliser reached the farmers in good time.
Recently, the Governor inaugurated the State Committee headed by Barrister Abdullahi Ibrahim Jalo, and charged them to discharge their duties fairly, honestly and patriotically so that no section of the state would be unfairly treated in the sales and distribution of these commodities.
According to the Governor, the nine-member Committee for Sales and Distribution Committee are:

iii) Director, Admin & Finance , Ministry of Finance – Member
iv) Director, Ministry for Local Government – Member
v) Director, Cooperative & Rural Development – Member
vi) Chairman, All Famers Association, Gombe State – Member
vii) Representative of the Commissioner of Police – Member
viii) The Representative of DSS – Member
ix) Bala Sarki, Director, Special Services & Political Office of the Secretary to the State Government – Secretary
