Gombe SSG inspects tanker bay, assures of Govt’s support
….. says government to look into challenges militating against its smooth operations.
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has assured the state taskforce on indiscriminate parking of trailers and other heavy duty vehicles of relating the challenges confronting their operations to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for appropriate action.

Njodi gave the assurance when he led a delegation of senior government officials on a facility tour at the trailer park on Monday to better appreciate its overall performance.
The SSG remarked that in spite of the obvious challenges militating against the park, the taskforce on indiscriminate parking of trailers and other articulated vehicles have been able to substantially deliver on its mandate of keeping heavy duty vehicles at bay, while generating revenue to the government in the process.
He explained that the policy direction of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration is to ensure the welfare and well-being of every citizen of the state and those coming from outside to do legitimate business.

It was for this reason that the Secretary to the Gombe State Government directed the taskforce to begin the process of revoking dormant shops at the trailer park for onward reallocation to individuals who are ready and willing to put it into use.
Speaking earlier, the chairman taskforce on indiscriminate parking of trailers and other articulated vehicles in the state, Col. Adamu Dapsiya (retd.), said the park has the potential of becoming a money spinning business outfit if measures at improving available facilities at the park are put in place.

Dapsiya revealed that despite the challenges militating against the smooth operations of the taskforce, the revenue generated by it has seen a steady rise with a total remittance of not less than N20 million to the state coffers.

He noted that since inception the taskforce was able to consistently dialogue with critical stakeholders in the business of heavy duty vehicles with a view to bringing them up to speed with the State Government’s Executive Order four which among other things mandated the taskforce to ensure that trucks are not indiscriminately parked on roads within Gombe metropolis.
He said the taskforce is working in synergy with other security agencies in the state to ensure the safety of drivers and their trucks especially those who patronise the trailer park.
While pledging the determination of the taskforce on indiscriminate parking of trailers and other articulated vehicles, the Chairman of the taskforce appealed for more patrol vehicles and other sundry facilities and interventions to enable the taskforce discharged its activities without any hitch.
The facilities inspected by the SSG include the parking bay, shops, clinic, fire service station, among others.
