Journalist’s Diary:The syndrome of entitlement

Journalist’s Diary: The country’s current reality and representational stories
By Generalsugar
A certain person (name withheld) felt the need to vent his anger and resentment by sending me a direct message (DM), complaining about how inappropriate the article is and how Senator Anthony Siyako Yaro, who represents the Gombe Southern Zone, should have given away fertiliser for free because it was donated by Federal Government to constituents but it’s not getting to them for free and that it hasn’t even been a year, he the senator is demonstrating dishonesty.
Well, after reading his texts, I found out that he’s an entitled ignorant fella.
I followed up with the question, “Is southern Gombe a part of Gombe state?”
Your hunch is just as valid as mine.
I then inquired as to whether the State Government provided fertiliser at no cost. His response was no.
He continued by saying
State government differs from Federal Government.
For my sanity and mental health, I realised it was time to quit the conversation at this point.
I just told him.
If you have no issues with the state government providing fertiliser at a discounted price of nearly 20,000 naira,
You should also not have issues with the senator
Why do you think it’s wrong that the senator distributes fertiliser at a discounted price of less than 14,000 naira, which is less than what the State Government provided?
After that, there was a moment of complete quiet.
Allow your representatives do their part.
This diversion comes too soon.
Let them concentrate and reward you with democratic dividends.
