…. As Gombe Govt appeals to FG to establish Fire Service Training Institute in the state
The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, has commended Gombe State Government under the leadership of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for supporting agencies under the ministry working in the state with logistics and other support to ease their work conditions.

Akinlade gave the commendation when she paid a courtesy visit to Governor Yahaya at the Government House, Gombe.
She assured of the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate with the state government to achieve the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at moving the country forward.

While appreciating the state for supporting services under the ministry, Oluwatoyin, however, appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the correctional services, “in the areas of inmate decongestion of the centres which are currently over-crowded and the need for some renovations to make the place more habitable,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary equally appealed for water supply, a clinic as well as a vocational training centre to enable inmates learn skills that would make them productive in the society after serving jail terms.
She reiterated the commitment of para military services in the state in the maintenance of order, peace and security.
She assured of continued collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and the Gombe State Government for the betterment of the citizens of the state.
The Permanent Secretary acknowledged the governor for his developmental strides especially in the area of healthcare and environmental cleanliness, describing the state as one of the best she has visited in recent times.
Responding, Governor Yahaya represented by the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, thanked the Ministry of Interior for the establishment of the fire service in the state which he said has been offering the best services especially in emergency situation in the state, “to consider the establishment of a fire service training institute in the state to help in the training and retraining of staff within the north east region.”
On the Permanent Secretary’s request for the state intervention in decongesting the correctional centre, Prof Njodi, said “government will be meeting with relevant authorities to do the needful.”
He said the government appreciates the cordial working relationship with agencies under the Interior Ministry in the state and assured of continuous synergy.
He said the government has already allocated Gombe line to House the Federal Fire Service and as regards other concerns raised at the correctional centre Gombe that include provisions of clinic and a vocational training facility he added “Government will look at possible ways of addressing them.”
