Gombe Govt assures 1569 corps members safety
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has assured 1,569 batch B stream II corps members safety as they complete the mandatory three-week orientation course, ahead of their deployment to Places of Primary Assignment.
Yahaya, who was represented by the Head of Service Ahmed Abdullahi, told the corps members that their safety remains pivotal to his administration owing to the contribution of corps members in the state.
He said, “I therefore urge you as you step into the next phase of your service year with clear focus, sound of character. dynamism and commitment to the transformation of our urban and rural communities. I implore you to accept posting to any establishment or community with good faith as rejection negates the objectives and principles of the National Service.
“I wish to assure you of the hospitality of the people of Gombe State and reiterate our commitment to your safety, welfare and good health condition throughout your stay in here in Gombe State..
“I wish to commend efforts of the State Coordinator and his management team in harnessing the energies and ingenuity of corps members towards meeting the basic needs of our people. Let me assure you that the Government and people of Gombe State will continue to support the NYSC towards achieving its noble objectives.”
He commended them for accepting to serve in Gombe State, urging them to show commitment to the various areas that they would be deployed to.
“It’s pertinent to note that our administration recognises hard work people-oriented initiatives by corps members, I have no doubt that the skill acquisition training you received during the orientation course would help in that regard.
“I am glad to note from reports reaching me that you have exhibited very high sense of discipline with the camp officials during the period. I enjoin you to respect the abiding principles, respect the culture and core values in your respective places of primary assignment.
“Permit me to also congratulate you on the successful completion of the orientation exercise and to reassure you of the hospitality of the good people of Gombe State,” Yahaya said.
Speaking earlier, National Youth Service Corps Gombe State Coordinator Dawut Jidda, the batch B stream II to show patriotism.
“My Dear Children, as you commence the next phase of the national service, I implore you to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience imbibed during the Orientation course. It is my hope that you will bring to bear the needed positive change in the lives of members of your host communities as you strive to meet their expectations by
contributing towards the progress and development of the State and nation,” he said.
Jidda emphasised that NYSC deployment is not only meant for urban areas urging them to take rural postings in good faith.
He added, “You will be issued posting letters to your various Places of Primary Assignment across the 11 Local Government Areas of the State at the end of this ceremony. In this regard, let me remind you of the oath of allegiance you took in which you pledged to accept postings in good faith. NYSC is not meant for only urban areas hence, you will be posted to the nooks and crannies of the State. I advise you to get to the hinterlands and remote villages where your impact will be most felt. So, swiftly Integrate into your host communities and take responsibility also, bearing in mind respect for their cultures and traditions to achieve peaceful co-existence.”
