Gombe lauds UBEC’s Smart Model School project
The Secretary to Government Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has lauded the Universal Basic Education Commission, for citing one of its Smart Model School project in the state.
Speaking shortly after inspecting structures and facilities at the school located behind Government Science Secondary school two in Gombe, preparatory to Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s visit and possible commissioning of the School, Professor Njodi also appreciated the Commission for the initiative.
The SGS who noted that the global community has embraced the use of Information and Communication Technology in the conduct of every aspect of life, Nigerian Children can not be left behind.
He also noted the Smart School initiative as a modern global approach to teaching and learning will afford the younger generation the opportunity of grasping the basic knowledge of the internet and other Communication gadgets application.
While assuring state government’s support for the sustenance of the school, Njodi disclosed in furtherance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to provision of quality education similar school will be established in all the senatorial districts of the state to raise the the number of beneficiaries.
The SGS also took time to declare open a five-day refresher training for 35 teachers and administrators preparatory to commencement of academic activities in the school being conducted by UBEC.
The Coordinator of the Smart School initiative at the Universal Basic Education Commission, Professor Bashir Galalanchi, who received and conducted the SGS and his entourage round the facility said the school comprises Nursery, Primary and Junior Secondary with provision for persons with disability.
Galadanchi also explained that carefully selected 35 teachers are being trained by the team of experts to equip for the task ahead, appealing to the state government for more as the teacher requirement for the school is between 70-80 when fully operational.
