The National Directorate of Employment on Monday commenced the training of 75 youths on Enviroprenuership development scheme to attract market principle in Taraba.

 

Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, Taraba State Coordinator of the directorate disclosed during the training orientation in Jalingo that the idea was to bring market principles to resolve environmental problems, encourages market-based solutions to environmental problems by educating environmentalists the principles of economics and marketing.

 

The coordinator also explained that the training orientation was to focused on environmental problems to accommodates societal needs, meet the economic objectives of NDE, since it’s for doing business.

 

According to the coordinator, the programme was aimed at improving the environmental sustainability and social contribution to the society, noting that the Enviriprenuership was full of resources and can nurture a culture of life cycle-based, thinking on how to turn wastes to valuables within the rules and norms of the society.

 

“Environprenuership Development is about bringing market principles to resolve environmental problems. It encourages Market-Based solutions to environmental problems by educating environmentalists, principles of economics and marketing.

 

“This programme is aimed at improving the environmental sustainability and the social contribution to the society. It will also cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the unemployed in both rural and urban areas.

 

“The implementation of the scheme will in no small measure, increase the socio-economic activities, generate employment opportunities, encourage wealth creation and impact poverty reduction efforts in Taraba state and the country at large

 

“Our objectives  is to reduce unemployment among youth by providing job opportunities in Enviroprenuership development. We intend to Provide entrepreneurship skills training to interested unemployed youths and persons through various workshops on recycling existing waste materials/resources which will in turn benefits present and future generations.

 

“The desire is to provide a means of livelihood and self-reliance to participants upon completion of (on-the-job skills training in EDS), reduce the impact of climate change on the environment, improve standard of living of the participants of the scheme, acquire skills training on the use of waste materials to develop several products and services that would bring about sustainable business and create environmental maintenance awareness amongst people living in the communities.

 

“The targeted participants are both university graduates, NCE holders, diploma holders and school leavers, while the training duration is three months,” the state coordinator explained.

 

Responding on behalf of participants, Mr Hajara Aliyu, commended NDE for the opportunity and assured that, they will submit themselves for the available training to achieve the desire of the directorate.
