Gombe Police PRO lauds Makwashi over DIG rank
The Gombe State Police command on Thursday lauded newly decorated Deputy Inspector General of Police Bello Makwashi.
Lauding the acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, the command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, said the promotion was deserving.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Makwashi was an erstwhile Commissioner of Police in Gombe, before his redeployment to Lagos.
Residents claim Makwashi during his reign as Gombe State Police Commissioner fought crime to the bearest minimum, describing his time as successful.
Abubakar made this disclosure on his verified X platform, formerly known as twitter.
He wrote, “Congratulations on your well-deserved promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Bello Makwashi, my former CP.”
Makwashi was former Borno State Police Commissioner, in September 2021 he was appointed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Zone 15, in Maiduguri.
During a pivotal meeting with Strategic Police Managers comprising Deputy Inspectors-General of Police and members of the Force Management Team, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders, to assess the security situation and discuss pertinent security matters, Egbetokun noted that it was apt as residents approach the Ember Months.
Historically characterised by increased activities and heightened security concerns.
The IGP commended the dedication and tireless efforts of police officers, as well as the unwavering support of the government and the public, which have collectively contributed to the notable decline in crime rates nationwide.
