Group advocates for peacebuilding among herders, farmers in N/East

A Fulani pastoralist group in Gombe State known as Pulaku, has met and reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace among groups in the six states of the North-East region.
The meeting was held at the Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State, where leaders of the groups, security operatives, and traditional leaders agreed to work together in harmony to achieve lasting peace in region.
Speaking during the meeting, the Public Relations Officer of the group, Alhaji Haruna Dila, said the group is embarking on a sensitisation visit to all the LGAs on how to resolve pending issues amicably without taking arms or through violence.
Dila said that the decision would be communicated to every member of the group, including those at the grassroots.
The group also announced that a ban has been placed on night grazing and unnecessary display of cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapons by herders coming inside the town for their activities during the day time.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Dukku Local Government Area, Alhaji Jamilu Haruna Shabewa, said the peacebuilding aims to find lasting solutions to bedeviling farmers, herders crises in the North-East region.
Shabewa said herders should allow proper harvest of farm produce by farmers before grazing on the farmlands.
