Police launch investigation into murder of 58-year-old Aishatu Abdullahi
…..as CP directs AC CID to personally investigate
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the operations department Gombe State Command CP Hayatu Usman, has ordered the Assistant Commissioner of Police Criminal Investigation Department to personally investigate the savage murder of Aishatu Abdullahi, a 58-year-old woman who was reportedly slaughtered by unknown persons on Friday.
Our correspondent reports that the perpetrators are said to have stormed late Abdullahi’s residence at Jekadafari Quarters in Gombe before fleeing with her handset.
According to a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, On receipt of the information, operatives moved to the scene where late Abdullahi was found in a pool of blood.
Abubakar said, “She was immediately rushed to the Specialist Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.”
While extending the command’s condolence to the family the police assured that it would do everything to unravel the perpetrators adding “the Command has launched a full-scale investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible for the brutal murder. The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Aishatu Abdullahi and we want to assure the public that we are doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice. We urge anyone with information that could lead us in our investigation to come forward and give us the information.”
He added, “The Command is urging residents to remain calm and vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the Police, The Command is also encouraging members of the public to cooperate fully with the police as they carry out their investigation, without the support we may not get to the roots of these problems because some of these criminals are from within the community being terrorised.”
Abubakar reminded residents that the restriction earlier imposed is on, urging tricycle and motorcycle riders to avail operatives with information.
“We are committed to maintaining law and order in the State and will not rest until those responsible for this senseless act of violence are brought to justice.
“Finally, the Command wishes to remind the general public that the movement restriction earlier imposed is still in place and also the Okada and Keke Napep riders are encouraged to help the police with information. Anybody who violates this order will face the full wrath of the law,” he added.
