There was riot in ATC area of Jalingo the Taraba State capital over the killing of a man by his wife’s lover.
A close source told our correspondent that trouble started yesterday night at a party in Murubai village, when the deceased was informed that his wife’s lover, identified as Mr Baba-Joe, was having fun with his wife at a corner of the party.
The deceased who was said, to have finished all the marriage processes but yet to take his bride home, approached the suspected lover with questions.
According to the source, Baba-Joe, the deceased and the wife who are both of Kona ethnic in Jalingo Local Government, engaged in shouting match when Baba-Joe removed his gun and shot him dead.
“Family of the decease are in Jalingo to burn down houses belonging to Mr Baba-Joe and his families.
“There was a night party yesterday at Murubai village when the deceased was informed that Baba-Joe was having good time with the woman he had done all the marriage processes for. The deceased approached Baba-Joe and they both started shouting at each other. It was at the point that Baba-Joe removed gun and shot the husband.
“Everyone at the event ran out of the village for safety but family of the deceased vowed to retaliate. They are burning houses belonging to Baba-Joe’s family and threatening to kill anyone who make resistance attempt,” the source narrated.
Our Correspondent reports that two houses belonging to Mr Baba-Joe’s family have been razed down, while the angry youths were seen heading to other places alleged to be Baba-Joe’s relations.
