…narrates how Doctors’ strike, negligence caused her Polio
30-year-old Victoria Alfred Nwoko, is a 200 level student of Ignatius Ajuru university, Port Harcourt.

Nwoko needs your assistance to return back to school with a new wheelchair. She was said to have been ridden with Polio at barely two years old.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Polio or poliomyelitis, is a disabling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus.
According to Nwoko, there was a particular injection she was supposed to take but couldn’t following doctors’ strike that lasted about a year.
She said, “My mother said when I was two years there was this particular injection I was supposed to take, but hospital went on strike for almost a year. So while I fell ill they took me to a doctor, who in the other hand gave me a wrong injection. So that was how this whole journey started.”
While lamenting the challenges faced as Person With Disability, Nwoko urged public-spirited people to help her acquire a moderately comfortable wheelchair to enable her carry on with activities as a gospel minister and student, adding that the current wheelchair is uncomfortable.
She said, “I’m finding it difficult to go back to school due to the situation of my current wheelchair, that I have been using for about six years now it can no longer provide adequate support and mobility that i need.
“This will help me complete my education and live a more fulfilling life, I’m looking to raise #450,000 to enable the purchase of a more suitable wheelchair, that can aid my activities, and provide the much needed support for my spine, which would be a dream come through.

Nwoko is a resilient young lady with a beautiful soul. She has constantly beaten the odds of her physical state, to live a life of impact through her ministrations, and contributions to the body of Christ, and society at large, whilst sitting on a wheelchair.
