Doma United has shown interest to play at the Continental stage beyond the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Disclosing this on Saturday during a post-match conference at Pantami township stadium Gombe, Bidemi Owoku, shortly after beating Katsina United Football Club 2-0.
Our correspondent reports that Owoku, who recently tied knot, scored the first goal before Samuel Enefiok, also replicated same totalling two.
“I feel happy and great because we as a team, we play in one love and unity which has brought us this far and this love will keep us together from one game to another that at the end of the season, we will know where we belong. At the end, continental ticket is our aim and if God crowns our efforts beyond that, we will also be happy,” he said.
Owoku speaking further lauded his team for the support especially during his wedding, which he noted has helped to settle him emotionally he added, “I want to give God the glory because without Him, I couldn’t have achieved this. I also thank God for the success of the wedding, it relieves him a lot. And I know I have prepared mentally and physically for this game and yes, the three points were ours at the end of the game.”
Also speaking, Technical Adviser of Doma United Football Club Akinade Onigbinde, commended the efforts of his boys, while expressing optimism that it would be sustained.
He said, “Congratulations to everyone of us, we thank God for the game. If I can remember our match against Bayelsa United was 2-0, against Gombe United, 3-0, we have been scoring goals, just that suddenly, the games changed. The matches we played with one goal were tough matches. Even this very one is tough. If you watched our match against Enyimba, Plateau United, they were indeed tough. We are working. I talked to the boys from the beginning of the game, get your goals and feel relaxed. We killed the game from the first half.
“It is a great one. We feel like continuing harder to get results and if the results keep coming, we are going to remain on top of the table. Our plan is to remain among the first three by February ending and if we can make it like that, it would be okay for us.”
Coach of Katsina United FC Bala Abubakar, declined comment.
