As Nigerians celebrate the new year which marks the beginning of year 2024, the Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, has called on residents of the state to remain steadfast and committed to the unity and peace of the state.
The party also urged the residents to eschew all forms of bitterness, anger and provocations that could lead to violence in the state.
This was contained in a press statement made available to Journalists in Lafia on Monday by the state’s PDP Chairman, Francis Orogu.
He explained that the appeal became neccesary in view of the numerous security challenges confronting the state at the moment.
Orugu said, “As we have moved into the new year 2024, and awaiting the Supreme Court’s governorship election judgement, we must put behind us any action capable of breaching the unity and peace of the state.
“God Almighty is always ahead of every principality. The will of God shall prevail and put to shame those insisting on taking the people’s freedom and joy in Nasarawa State.
“So, residents should refrain from encouraging the ember of disunity and religious sentiments so that the state will remain peaceful for everyone of us.”
The PDP Chairman further expressed optimism that the mandate genuinely given to its governorship candidate for a positive change in Nasarawa would be delivered by the Supreme Court in the interest of justice, equity, and fair play.
“We are confident of reclaiming our mandate at the Supreme Court because of the facts available, so we are calling on all our supporters to go about their daily activities peacefully.
“They should avoid being involved in the breakdown of law and order of whatever dimension. They should also be guided by the rule of law and fear of God in their affairs,” the statement added.
