USAID trains CSOs, govt officials on tracking community projects

United State International Development Agency, State2State activity has trained 32 Civil Society Organisations, state and local government officials on tracking implementation of Community Charter of Demand in Adamawa.

Speaking during the training in Yola, Mr Habila Salem, State2State’s Citizens Engagement and capacity building specialist said the training is to ensure accountability, transparency and effectiveness at the community level.

“The objectives of the training is intended to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of community development project implementation.

“Equip participants with the basic tools and templates for tracking the implementation of community development projects as well as to develop an action plan for tracking CCD project implementation in their communities”, he said.

Salem said, the aims of the tracking is to ensure implementation of projects as planned, keep project managers and stakeholders informed as well as spot early warning sigh on failures and take corrective actions.

Hajiya Maryam Dikko, State2State team lead in Adamawa called on the participants to sustain its project for continues implementating knowledge acquired in to practice.

The team lead, represented by Ms Suzanne Myada, State2State’s Public Financial Management specialist said, aims of the activity is to promote transparency, accountability and effectiveness especially in education, health Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

According to her, the State2State activity is five years, now on the fourth year, hence the need state government and stakeholder to sustain all the projects implemented.

In his remarks, Mr Iliya Danyaro, Director Budget, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning appreciated contribution of State2State of ensuring accountability and transparency in the state.

Danyaro , represented by Yohana Vandi, Principal planning Officer of the Ministry urged the participants to apply the skills in to practice and assured that they would do everything possible to sustain the project in the state.

Chabiyada Eli, Coordinator Gender and Social Inclusion called on the participants to always adhere to social inclusion when carried out their activities to enable them air their voice on the issues affecting them.

Mr Shafa Salma, who spoke on behalf of the participants assured that CSOs in the state would come together to have a work plan in collaboration with state government for effective tracking of CCD project.
