The Federal University Wukari has announced its plan to confer honorary doctorate degrees (Honoris Causa) on three distinguished Nigerians at its 6th and 7th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, the 16th of March, 2024.

The awardees are HRM Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, the Aku Uka of Wukari; and Barr. Boss Mustapha, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation; and Chief Obadiah Ando, the former Minister of Water Resources.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Jude Sammani Rabo, disclosed this during a pre-convocation press briefing held at the Senate chamber of the university.
According to the VC, HRM Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, the Paramount Ruler of Kwararrafa Kingdom and Chairman of Taraba State Council of Chiefs will be conferred with the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa), while Barr. Boss Mustapha will be conferred with a Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa), and Chief Obadiah Ando will receive a Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa).
The citation of the awardees in parts was also read by the Vice-Chancellor during the press briefing.
HRM Manu Ishaku Adda Ali has been very supportive of the Federal University Wukari since his enthronement in January 2022. He served as Chief Forest Superintendent and Forest Reservation Officer in charge of Taraba State (1994-2000).
Chief Obadiah Ando had earlier served as Hon. Minister of Water Resources and member of the Federal Executive Council between 2010 and 2011 in the administration of Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. He has also been very supportive of the Federal University Wukari.
Barrister Boss Mustapha is the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and has held several Federal and State Government appointments in the country. He remains a solid supporter of Federal University Wukari.
In addition to the honorary doctorate degrees, the convocation ceremony will also witness the conferment of Bachelor’s degrees, M.Sc./M.A. degrees, and Postgraduate Diplomas on a total of 3,124 candidates.
Out of the 3,031 Bachelor’s degree candidates, 120 have first-class, 1,086 have second-class upper, and 1,441 have second-class lower degrees.
A total of 383 candidates have third-class degrees, while one candidate has a Pass.
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted some projects that are set to be commissioned immediately after the press briefing.
These include the Perimeter fence of the university, the Faculty of Clinical Sciences building, the Faculty of Arts complex building, and the Faculty of Science building.
Other projects to be commissioned on Saturday include the Administrative building by Governor Agbu Kefas, a printing press, a Sachet water factory, and vehicles.
