The Chairman of Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has extended felicitations to Christians in the state and worldwide as they celebrate this year’s Easter festivities.
In a goodwill message, signed by Director-General Press Affairs Ismaila Misilli, the governor advocated for prayers for sustained peace and stability in Gombe State, Northern Region and Nigeria as a whole, emphasising the significance of unity, brotherhood, and service to God and humanity during and beyond the Easter period.
The Governor, who highlighted the essence of Easter, which symbolises love, sacrifice, and the triumph of good over evil, urged Christians to reflect on these core principles and integrate them into their daily lives.
“I extend warm congratulations to our Christian brethren for completing the Lenten Season and celebrating Easter. We are grateful to the Almighty for granting you the strength to go through this significant spiritual journey. May the blessings of this period rejuvenate our nation and steer us towards lasting peace, progress and prosperity,” he said.
He expressed optimism in overcoming prevailing socio-economic and security challenges through collective effort and divine intervention.
The NSGF Chairman acknowledged the current distress faced by the nation amidst security threats and socio-economic strains, occasioned by the recent removal of fuel subsidies and global economic downturn. Nevertheless, he urged citizens to find solace in the blessings of Easter and work towards sustainable peace and development.
He urged religious leaders to continue to utilize their platforms to promote peace, tolerance, and unity among Nigeria’s diverse population.
Yahaya wished the Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration, expressing hope that the blessings of the season would pave the way for a brighter future for both Gombe State and the nation at large.
