The Gombe State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, during its  expanded state executive committee warned politicians aspiring to contest 2027 polls to wait till the ban on campaign is lifted.

According to a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party Moses Kyari, on Monday, which was obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA,  the party frowned at alleged distractions their activities were causing the current administration.

Kyari frowned at their activities noting that going forward sanctions would be meted out to violators who are already canvassing for votes ahead of 2027.

He noted that the meeting was held on Saturday April 6, 2024 to discuss political developments in the state.

The statement partly read, “The meeting noted with deep concern the continued violation of extant election laws and the constitution of our Great Party by some of its members who are aspiring to run in the 2027 governorship election. The party strongly condemned the actions of these prospective aspirants for the governorship of the state and urged them to avoid distracting the government of His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON) from delivering his campaign promises to the good people of the state.

“Accordingly, all political structures and contact committees established by these prospective candidates are here disbanded by the Party, and all loyal party members are urged to refrain from participating in such unlawful campaign activities until all restrictions on political campaigns are lifted.

“As a party governed by the law, we wish to reiterate our commitment to ensuring complete compliance with this directive and our willingness to sanction any member who violates the party’s constitution.”

Kyari’s statement also passed vote of confidence in Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, for his services to residents of Gombe State.

“Commend His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON) for his dynamic and energetic leadership especially in these challenging times. The governor’s dedication to serving his people and delivering on his campaign promises despite pressing economic challenges is a testament to his commitment to their well-being. His leadership has been instrumental in delivering essential services and benefits to the greater number of the population, ensuring continuous development and progress across the state despite the economic challenges being faced.

The party resolved to pass a vote of confidence in the leadership of His Excellency Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya acknowledging his remarkable achievements and dedication to serving the people. The successful delivery of essential services and benefits, as well as his ability to adapt and overcome challenging circumstances, have been instrumental to the continuous development and progress of the state. The party commended the governor’s purpose-driven leadership and pledged its continued support for his visionary agenda,” the statement added.
