Ambassador Usman Aliyu, stands as a paragon of excellence, not only as an expert in hydrology but also as a seasoned humanitarian, philanthropist, climate change activist, and social justice advocate hailing from Borno State.




His distinguished roles as the Coordinator of Borno GoGreen Initiatives and the Director of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR) for the Network for Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria, Borno State Chapter, illuminate his resolute allegiance to transformative change, community development, and sustainable growth.
In a fervent gesture aimed at uplifting the lives of vulnerable widows and orphans displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency, Ambassador Aliyu and some donations from good friend sponsored a comprehensive skills training and acquisition program. Collaborating with the WOGSUDA office, he sponsored training sessions for 50 widows and orphans, encompassing diverse skill sets ranging from baking, local sweets and snacks production, to bedsheet crafting, beadwork, and throw pillow manufacturing without a single aid from both local and international organisations and entites. This initiative not only equips them with essential skills but also empowers them to achieve financial independence, fostering tenacity and self-reliance within the community. Earning him the title “A Visionary Leader with Multifaceted Expertise”.





Recognising the paramount importance of access to clean and safe water, Ambassador Aliyu spearheaded a robust initiative to rehabilitate and repair hand pumps across various locations. His unflinching dedication led to the successful repair of over”
700 hand pumps in Maiduguri,
36 in Bauchi, and
136 in the Biu Emirate.
Furthermore, he oversaw the drilling of more than 50 new boreholes equipped with hand pumps, stanchions, and overhead tanks, plus another more than 50 brand new boreholes drilled in different strategic locations across Borno State ensuring sustainable access to clean water for thousands of people, thereby enhancing public health and elevating the quality of life.
The scope of Amb. Aliyu’s water infrastructure projects transcended geographical boundaries, reaching communities across multiple local government areas. His initiatives spanned Azare local government of Bauchi State, kwaya Kumar and Biulocal government of Borno Stae. Some wards from Biu LGA includes, Mariama, Miringa, Ngwa, Sakwa Malang, Yimirshika, Kida, Kinging, and beyond. These projects, meticulously executed and submitted to the Emir of Biu under the Biu Emirate Council, epitomize his zealous to serving diverse communities and addressing their unique needs.
Amb. Aliyu’s focus on water infrastructure not only improved access to clean water but also bolstered community toughness against waterborne diseases, thereby enhancing public health outcomes. His strategic investments in water projects have catalyzed socio-economic development, stimulated educational opportunities, and fostered a culture of self-sufficiency and well-being among residents.
As the Coordinator of Zullum GoGreen Initiatives, Ambassador Aliyu has been a steadfast advocate for environmental sustainability, spearheading initiatives to combat climate change, promote renewable energy, and protect natural resources. His tenacious devotion to green initiatives inspires communities to adopt eco-friendly practices, mitigate environmental degradation, and embrace a sustainable lifestyle for future generations.
