The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has formally announced that Wednesday, April 10, will be observed as Eid-Fitri.
A communication released by Professor Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, confirmed that the council has acknowledged the report and officially designated Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the commencement of Shawwal 1445AH, as stated in a press release in Sokoto on Monday evening.
“His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
“The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Fitri,”Junaidu said.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, 9th and Wednesday, 10th April, 2024 as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government congratulated all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
Tunji-Ojo called on Muslim Ummmah to imbibe and practice the virtues that entails kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, urged Nigerians to continue in the spirit of unity in order to improve and achieve peace and oneness in the country.
The Minister wished all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prays that the peace, blessings and favour of Allah be with everyone.
