The event, held on April 25, 2024, at the A And I Nagarta Medics and Pharmaceutical premises, was a significant step towards raising awareness and providing essential healthcare services to the community.

Led by Pharmacist Abdulwahab Aliyu, Chief Executive Officer of A And I Nagarta Medics and Pharmaceutical, said the initiative was aimed towards tackling the pervasive issue of malaria, particularly in the Jekadafari quarters of Gombe Local Government Council.

Aliyu emphasised the importance of their contribution to society, driven by his experiences and research on malaria’s impact, particularly in African sub-regions like Nigeria.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that during the event, attendees benefitted from various services, including free malaria testing, provision of malaria drugs for those diagnosed, free ultrasound scans for pregnant women, health talks on malaria prevention, and interactive sessions with healthcare experts.

The commitment to providing holistic healthcare solutions was evident throughout the event, with a focus on prevention strategies and community engagement.

Pharmacist Solomi, representing the Gombe State Malaria Elimination Programme, underscored the significance of prevention in combating malaria.

She urged pregnant women to adhere to medical advice, emphasizing the importance of sleeping under mosquito nets and taking proactive measures to protect themselves and their unborn children.

Over 250 individuals from Jekadafari quarters got free malaria testing during the event, with plans to reach over 550 individuals in total.

Among the beneficiaries were Malam Mu’azu Nuhu and Malama Hauwa’u Muhammad Sani, who expressed gratitude for the initiative. They commended A & I Nagarta Medics and Pharmaceutical for their dedication to improving community health and urged them to sustain their efforts.

The collaboration between the Gombe State Malaria Elimination Program and A And I Nagarta Medics and Pharmaceutical signifies a shared commitment to raising awareness and combating malaria in the region. As part of this year’s World Malaria Day celebration, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) also conducted sensitization activities, further amplifying efforts to eradicate malaria in Gombe State.

The event served as a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven initiatives in addressing public health challenges. A & I Nagarta Medics and Pharmaceutical Ltd. remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate malaria from Gombe State, Nigeria, and beyond.
