The Wife of President Bola Tinubu, Senator Oluwaremi Tinubu, on Thursday distributed N50 million economic empowerment grant to 1,000 women across 11 Local Government Areas of the state.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the economic empowerment with the theme ‘towards a better life for families’, is under the renewed hope initiative of Tinubu-led to administration for petty traders in the state, held at the Gombe Government House banquet hall.

According to Tinubu, who was represented by the Wife of Gombe State Governor, Hajiya Asmau’u Yahaya, the current administration is committed to improving the lives of women in the country.
She disclosed that similar activities were underway in each of the 36 states and FCT, geared towards empowering women and alleviating their financial burdens especially in this current economic hardship.

Tinubu explained the importance of supporting women and providing them with the resources they need to succeed in their endeavours, “Our goal with this programme is to uplift and empower the women in our state, who are the backbone of our communities.By providing them with access to capital, we hope to ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and help them build sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families,” she added.
She further disclosed that the N50,000 grant to each of the 1000 women accumulated to N50 million, adding “will uplift and empower the women in the state if used judiciously to ignite their entrepreneurial spirit and help them build sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.”
The first lady therefore, called on the beneficiaries to invest the funds into expanding their existing businesses to improve the socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria at large.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to PERISCOPE NIGERIA including Zainab No Shaking and Ladi Giwa, expressed their appreciation for the gesture, stating that the funds would go a long way in helping them achieve their goals and improve their livelihoods.
“This grant comes at a crucial time for us and our family. With this fund, we can now purchase more stock and improve the quality of our products, which will help us grow our business and provide better for our children,” the beneficiaries added.
