1. Budget Title: The 2025 budget presented by Governor Agbu Kefas, is christened “Budget of Transformations”.

2. Budget Size: The budget estimate is ₦429,898,968,402.31, representing a 37 per cent increase over the 2024 budget .

3. Recurrent and Capital Expenditure: The budget allocates 38.1 per cent (₦163.78 billion) for Recurrent Expenditure and 61.9 per cent (₦266.12 billion) for Capital Expenditure.
4. Revenue Sources: The projected revenue sources include Independent sources (11.6 per cent), Federal Account Allocation Committee, Aid and Grants (32.5 per cent), Capital Development Fund (35.9 per cent), and others (18.6 per cent).

5. Priority Areas: The budget prioritises education, healthcare, security, job creation, and infrastructure development.
6. Education: The budget focuses on expanding free and compulsory education and constructing modern schools using hydro foam block machines.
7. Agriculture: The budget aims to promote mechanised farming and responsible mining activities.
8. Security: The budget seeks to strengthen local intelligent networks to enhance security.
9. Implementation: The governor urged the Assembly to support the proposal and work with the executive arm to ensure effective implementation.
10. Assembly’s Response: The Speaker of the House assured the Governor of the Assembly’s commitment to act in the best interest of the State.
Gov Kefas lays 2025 budget estimate to Taraba Assembly

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Monday presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill of Four hundred and twenty nine billion, eight hundred and ninety eight million, nine hundred and sixty eight thousand, four hundred and two naira, thirty one Kobo only (₦429, 898, 968, 402, 31) to the Taraba State House of Assembly.
The 2025 budget estimate titled “Budget of transformations,”according to the governor, outlines his administration’s fiscal strategy to achieve key economic development goals, including infrastructure, education, health care, security and job creation among others.
The Governor who described the budget as an ambitious but achievable budget noted that the state government had made significant progress in the 2024 budget but there were challenges of funding gaps and implementations
He said the lessons learnt from the challenges informed the government’s renewed strategies for the 2025 budget estimate
The governor disclosed that the proposed 2025 budget of ₦429, 898, 968, 402, 31, has 163.78 billion naira representing 38.1 percent as Recurrent Expenditure and 266.12 billion naira, representing 61.9 per cent as Capital Expenditure
“The budget represents 37 per cent increase over the 2024 budget. This is a deliberate and calculated step to reposition Taraba State on greater socio-economic impact
“Each allocation in the budget is intended to drive growth, promote equity and enhance the quality of life of our people. Our strategic priority in education will be on expansion of free and compulsory education and construction of modern schools using hydro foam block machines
“In the area of agriculture, we will focus on mechanize farming and responsible mining activities while we strengthen our local intelligent network to enhance the security of our people. The Taraba State Development Master Plan of 2023 – 2050 will be our working document in 2025,” he added.
The governor disclosed that the projected revenue sources include 50.04 billion naira, which represents 11.6 percent from Independent sources, 139.93 billion naira, representing 32.5 percent from Federal Account Allocation Committee, Aid and Grants; 154.26 billion naira which represents 35.9 percent and Capital Development Fund; 79.77 billion naira which represents 18.6 per cent respectively.
He urged the Assembly to support the proposal and work with the executive arm of the state to ensure effective implementations, emphasising his administration’s willingness to build and transform the state adding “one that offers opportunities, equity and prosperity of people of the state.”
In response, Speaker of the House, Hon Bonzena Kizito, lauded the governor’s giant developmental strides and assured the Governor of the Assembly’s commitment to act in the best interest of the State.
