A popular club in Jalingo, Duchess Lounge, with an estimated worth of close to a billion naira on Tuesday razed by fire.
Our correspondent gathered that men of the Nigeria Fire Service did not respond to the incident after three hours of contact.

Though the actual cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, however eyewitness suggest that the fire may have started as a result of sudden power surge and made worse by the weather.
The owner of the lounge and former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Professor Joseph Albasu, told our Correspondent that the place has just undergone a comprehensive overhaul, preparatory for the Third anniversary on 30th of December.
“It is a sad development and a huge lost but we thank God that no life was lost. We just did a complete overhaul of the place and changed the furniture ahead of our Third anniversary this December,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Desmond Wee, manager of the club told our correspondent that, “when the fire started, i immediately called the fire services but they only arrived three hours later after the damage was already done,” the manager alleged.
