A patrol team from the Billiri Division of the Gombe State Police Command has arrested a hummer bus with registration number LND 864 XA and three suspects in connection with a cow theft syndicate.
The suspects, Mohammed Garba, 55, Idi Salisu, 27, and Umar Babale, 39, were arrested on January 10, 2025.

According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, “The suspects revealed during interrogation that they were sent by one Alh Halilu alias S.Y Lafiya to receive stolen cows from Kembu village via Akko LGA and Filiya axis.”
The Divisional Police Officer Billiri immediately informed the DPO Akko and Pero-chonge for a joint operation to arrest the notorious cow theft syndicate. Umaru Jalo, 25, was arrested in possession of a stolen cow, which he confessed was stolen from Garin Majidadi village via Kumo, belonging to one Alh Mohammed Ahmadu.
He said, “The stolen cow has been handed over to its rightful owner. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.”
The police are still on the lookout for other members of the syndicate, including one Dogo surname unknown of Garin Bakari via Kumo, Akko LGA, Gombe State, who is currently at large.
