As the government delegation continues its second day of presenting appointment letters to newly appointed District and village heads, it visited Dukku, Gona, and Kwami Emirates and Chiefdom, marking a significant step in improving local governance.

The Deputy Governor, during the presentation, urged the newly appointed leaders to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to their superiors and maintain open communication through regular written reports to keep the government informed of developments in their areas.

Visiting the palaces of the Emirs of Dukku, Gona, and the Senior District Head of Kwami, the delegation emphasised the importance of harmony between leaders and their subordinates, highlighting the role of unity in effective governance.
The Deputy Governor reminded the appointees that their new positions carry increased responsibility and require active participation in governance. He stressed the critical role of traditional rulers in protecting the environment, particularly by preventing indiscriminate tree felling, which exacerbates desertification and contributes to environmental damage such as windstorms and drought.
Furthermore, the government officials urged citizens to show loyalty and support for their new leaders, while the appointed District and village heads were encouraged to maintain respect for their superiors to foster a collaborative and successful leadership environment.
“We expect loyalty to your superiors and the government through the consistent submission of written reports, ensuring that operations proceed as planned. One of your greatest responsibilities is to prevent deforestation, as it helps avoid encroachment and other environmental disasters, such as windstorms and droughts,” Jatau emphasised.
In his remarks, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Secretary to the State Government, addressed the delay in the appointments, explaining that it was due to thorough background checks to ensure that only individuals of integrity and good standing were selected. He warned the appointees to avoid any actions that could damage their reputations and trigger disciplinary actions.
The new leaders were reminded that the appointment letters are in duplicate and must be signed within three days to confirm their acceptance of the positions. Failure to do so will result in reconsideration of their appointments.
Local government leaders, including the Chairmen of Dukku,Adamu Mohammed Waziri Kwami,Dr. Ahmad Wali Doho and Akko, Mohammed D. Adamu expressed gratitude for the appointments, which they believe will help fill the gaps left by the passing of their predecessors. They described the event as historic and one that would remain memorable.
The Emir of Dukku, Alh. Haruna Abdulkadir Rasheed, Lamido Gona , Alh. Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam and the Senior District Head of Kwami each expressed their happiness and pledged their full support to the administration. They thanked the governor for renovating and face-lifting their palaces into great edifices.
Among the delegation were key officials, including the Chief of Staff,Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari, the Commissioner for Local Government, Alh. Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, and the Director of Special Services,Bala Sarki.
At Dukku palace,the Commissioner of Finance, Alh. Muhammad Gambo Magaji, and the Member Representing Dukku North in the state House of Assembly were in attendance while in Kwami the Commissioners for Works and that of Higher Education were present.
While in Gona,the Commissioner for Energy and other government officials were part of the occasion, underscoring the importance of the visit and the leadership transition process.
