Dr Yusuf Muhammad Abdullahi, Chief Medical Director of Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, has reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing training and research in the healthcare sector.
He made this disclosure during a press briefing at the office in FTH Gombe.

Abdullahi said, “Our goal is to support and improve the mandate of health institutions, focusing on training and retraining manpower for health and conducting research.”
Upon assuming office, Abdullahi noted that the only existing training programme was for medical doctors. However, under his leadership, the hospital has established schools for nursing, health information management, and ophthalmology, aligning with the Nigerian President’s renewed hope agenda.

“These schools have successfully graduated students with National Diploma Certificates,” Abdullahi added.
He disclosed that the hospital plans to establish a school for community health officers, a facility currently unavailable in the state.
According to the CMD, this initiative is part of the Minister of Health’s four-point agenda, aimed to improve governance, reduce maternal mortality, enhance health population index, and ensure security.
