The Gombe State Government has formally adopted the 2025-2027 United Nations Children’s Fund work plan, reaffirming its commitment to advancing healthcare, education, and child protection across the state.

Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali, signed the agreement on behalf of the state government, emphasizing the workplan’s strategic interventions designed to elevate the well-being of children and vulnerable demographics.

“The total financial outlay for this initiative amounts to $4,103,300, with $1,449,497 already secured, while efforts are underway to mobilise the remaining $2 million,” Alhaji Alkali disclosed.
On her part, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Bauchi, praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership, recognizing his administration’s dedication to child welfare and development. “UNICEF remains committed to ensuring equitable access to essential services for every child, leaving no one behind,” Dr. Rafique stated.
Also, Special Adviser on Donor/Development Partners Coordination, Dr Ishiaku Babayo, commended UNICEF’s contributions to critical sectors in Gombe State, expressing confidence in the seamless execution of the work plan.
“The state government is resolutely determined to fortify its collaboration with UNICEF in pursuit of a brighter future for the children of Gombe state,” Dr. Babayo said.
