Residents of Taraba State have resolved to tender a formal apology to former Governor Darius Ishaku, following what they described as the disappointing performance of his successor, Governor Agbu Kefas.

Ishaku, who served as governor from 2015 to 2023, faced widespread criticism during his tenure for what many perceived as underperformance. However, in light of recent developments under Governor Kefas’ administration, some residents have begun to reconsider their earlier stance.
According to the residents, after critically analysing the progress—or lack thereof—under Governor Kefas over the past two years, they now believe Ishaku’s achievements were significantly underappreciated.
“After a critical look at Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration, we have resolved to tender a formal apology to former Governor Darius Ishaku for our earlier criticism. We thought Ishaku was the poorest-performing governor, not knowing we were about to witness the worst administration in the history of Nigeria,” said Mr. Thomas Abu, Zanu Abel, and Sadiq Abubakar in a joint statement.
They recalled that during Ishaku’s first two years in office, he initiated several transformative projects, including the Mararaba–Lacheke–Kpantinshawa road, the Magami road network, the Taraba Greenhouse project, the revival of Taraba Tom Oil, the Jalingo–Kona road, 186 water boreholes across communities, and the reconstruction of Wukari General Hospital, among others.
