The newly posted Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Gombe State, Bello Mathew Tsamiya, has reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to collaborate with the state government in the ongoing fight against illicit drug use and trafficking.

Commander Tsamiya gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Friday. The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
He expressed appreciation to the Gombe State Government for its unwavering support to the agency, particularly the donation of two brand new operational vehicles. He described the gesture as a major boost to the agency’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.
“The donation of the vehicles and continued financial assistance from the state government have made our work more effective and reassured us of a strong partnership in ensuring a safer Gombe,” he said.
Commander Tsamiya commended Governor Yahaya’s administration for creating a conducive working environment for the agency, saying the NDLEA now considers Gombe a “home away from home.”
In his remarks, Professor Njodi welcomed the new commander on behalf of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and emphasized the government’s deep concern over the rising cases of drug abuse, especially among youth in the state.
He urged the NDLEA to strengthen its collaboration with other security and health-related agencies to reduce the rate of drug addiction to the barest minimum.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting the agency’s operations, Prof. Njodi assured the commander of continuous assistance, especially in the area of logistics, to enhance the effectiveness of the NDLEA’s activities across the state.
