Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has launched an attack on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling him “a disaster” who should be immediately expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an exclusive interview, the PDP founding member revealed he has begun boycotting party meetings in protest against Wike and former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom’s continued membership in the Board of Trustees.
Lamido didn’t mince words in his criticism: “Wike is, quite frankly, a disaster. What he has done is un-African and un-Nigerian.” He particularly condemned Wike’s role in the recent sealing of the PDP’s national secretariat.
The former governor also lamented the erosion of traditional political values: “There used to be a party culture that prioritized collective good, something altruistic, but that seems lost now.” He compared Wike’s actions to “destroying your own home.”
Speaking on Tinubu’s intervention on the closed PDP offices, Lamido noted the irony: “The very man Wike is trying to please by destroying his own political family is the one saying, ‘No, you can’t do that.” He suggested this exposed Wike’s unreliability.
Meanwhile, recalling his time as SDP National Secretary, Lamido referenced how the late Senator Arthur Nzeribe was sanctioned for anti-party activities, questioning why PDP hasn’t shown similar resolve: “Today, people openly working against the PDP are still being tolerated.”
The veteran politician also declared, “I remain a PDP member, but I will not participate in party functions or answer calls to meetings while these individuals remain in leadership.” He specifically criticized the imposition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary despite rejection by his zone.
Lamido’s outburst signals deepening fractures within Nigeria’s main opposition party, with veteran members increasingly alienated by what they see as tolerance for anti-party activities. The public airing of grievances threatens to further destabilize the PDP ahead of crucial elections.
